Music by Giacomo Puccini (1858-1924)
Libretto by Luigi Illica and Giuseppe Giacosa, based on the play by Victorien Sardou
Premiere : Teatro Costanzi, Rome, 14 January 1900
Celebrating Puccini, in the centenary year of his death, is a duty for a festival that, after all, owes him some of its greatest evenings. Because it was unthinkable to miss this opportunity, because opera at the highest level is in our DNA, because it was possible to bring together over a short period of time an exceptional triod (Aleksandra Kurzak, Roberto Alagna, Bryn Terfel), the Chorégies d'Orange are delighted to present this concertante version of Tosca to close the festival, under the musical direction of Clelia Cafiero, who triumphed in our last Carmen.
