VIAGGIO ITALIANO
MUSIC DIRECTOR Gianluca Capuano
MEZZO-SOPRANO Cecilia Bartoli
‘The Prince’s Musicians’, Monaco
Les Musiciens du Prince, Monaco’s new orchestra, was founded in the spring of 2016 at the Opera of Monte-Carlo, based on an idea by Cecilia Bartoli together with Jean-Louis Grinda. The project received the immediate support of H.S.H. Prince Albert II and H.R.H. the Princess of Hanover. The singer and artistic director, Cecilia Bartoli gathered the very best international musicians on period instruments, giving rise to an orchestra that revives the tradition of court music at the princely, royal and imperial courts in seventeenth and eighteenth-century Europe. The orchestra’s focus is on the rarer works of the baroque period, especially Handel and Vivaldi, extending also up to Rossini. The Prince’s Musicians and Cecilia Bartoli regularly perform in Europe’s greatest concert halls, unanimously hailed by audiences and by the international press. They regularly appear at Salzburg’s Whitsun Festival and Summer Festival. Gianluca Capuano was appointed main conductor in March 2019. The Prince’s Musicians are in permanent residency at the Monte-Carlo Opera.
