The President's Message
by Richard Galy

After an especially rich year in 2025, I am pleased to present the 2026 program which, once again, combines artistic excellence with a diversity of offerings, fully embracing the choice to address all audiences.

This edition marks the return of La Traviata, the great romantic heroine whose tragic redemption exposes hypocrisy and social conformism. This staged version will bring together an exceptional cast: Nadine Sierra in the title role alongside Ludovic Tézier. Voices at their peak for Verdi’s masterpiece—a rendezvous not to be missed.

Another beloved heroine, Cinderella, will be portrayed by the prestigious Ballets de Monte-Carlo in Jean-Christophe Maillot’s choreography. This poetic reinterpretation of Perrault’s famous tale magnifies the character of Cinderella, more feminine and moving than ever.

Cinema now has its rightful place in our festival. This year, film music takes center stage. The great composers of the seventh art will be showcased by the bow of Renaud Capuçon, accompanied by the Orchestre National de Cannes. An evening dedicated to the great themes of cinema that should enchant audiences of all ages. Gospel is a vocal genre in its own right that will undoubtedly find its full expression in the acoustic setting of the Roman Theatre.

After the success of the musical Black Legends in 2024, the Harlem Gospel Choir now promises a musical evening that is both spiritual and joyful.

Finally, the Chorégies continue their tradition of inviting a popular singer to perform with a classical orchestra. This year, Philippe Katerine will present his lyrics and melodies in an orchestral version, in collaboration with the Orchestre National Avignon-Provence.

On behalf of the public company Chorégies d’Orange and its team, I would like to thank our three shareholders—the Region, the City of Orange, and the Department of Vaucluse—for their steady and unwavering support, as well as the State and the Minister of Culture for their commitment. And of course, the best ambassadors of the Festival are our loyal audience and the Friends of the Chorégies. Once again this year, I hope you will share beautiful evenings in the enchanting setting of the Roman Theatre.
